Do I need International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) ?

International Private Medical Insurance (IPMI) is different than travel insurance as the latter usually is for cover abroad for people who are away from home for short periods (usually 6 months or less)

IPMI is more comprehensive in nature and can cover medical emergency cover, maternity care, doctors visits and the treatment of ongoing and chronic conditions.

Who is International PMI for?

IPMI may be for ex pats living abroad, company employees who spend more than 6 months out of the UK (and therefore aren't eligible for a company PMI plan in the UK) or students overseas

Premiums tend to be significantly higher than a travel insurance policy however will cover you for the whole year and ensure that if you did need treatment abroad you aren't left with huge bills to pay, particularly in the Americas where the cost of private treatment can be higher than in the UK.

There are a variety of cover levels with premiums depending on main country of residence where Phoenix health and protection work with all the main providers of International PMI to provide the most cost effective solution for you and your business.
